A member of non-profit organization PowerSurge Worship Ministries family of performance ensembles, Sonrise Mountain Revival combines the American musical forms of bluegrass, folk, Gospel and jazz in a unique presentation of traditional and new bluegrass songs, as well as favorite hymn and secular song arrangements. The result is a dynamic and entertaining mix, with audiences of all ages enjoying and being moved by their strong lyrical content and “mountain music” style.
With members from Green Pond, Branchville, Franklin, Newton, Sussex and Vernon, northern New Jersey's own bluegrass band has presented a wide variety of concerts in venues ranging from small churches to concert halls, outdoor platforms to restaurant stages, bluegrass festivals to retirement villages, worship services to political rallies. SMR has been privileged to grace stages around their home in New Jersey, across the Northeast United States and as far away as Germany and Poland, appearing in places as diverse as The Wind Gap Bluegrass Festival, Camp Spofford Family Retreat, The Tuscarora Inn and Conference Center’s Seniors Retreat, the Front Porch Blue Grass Festival, the Sussex County Fairgrounds, the Blairstown EFC 4th of July Celebration and in and around the flood ravaged region of Webster Springs, West Virginia, bringing their unique brand of hope and encouragement.
In addition to their public appearances, Sonrise Mountain Revival released their first CD last August, Tenderly Calling, which can be found at most online retailers including Amazon and CD Baby and heard on Pandora, Spotify and other internet outlets.
